THE Gurjeet Singh coached Suva team has set its sights on the 2013/2014 Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League after going down to Ba 0-1 in the semi-final of the Courts Inter-District Championship at Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday.
The Men in Black proved too strong for the defending champions with nippy striker Abbu Zahid Saheed striking in the first half after some good inter-passes inside the box.
Suva keeper Emori Ragata worked overtime to keep the scores respectable in the first half.
Ba dominated possession but Suva got back in the game in the second half with some good attacking display.
Star striker Samuela Drudru tried his best to get his side back on track forcing Jone Ralulu to make a daring save with his shot from outside the box.
Aron Underwood, with his crafty footwork, was able to work through the Ba defence but the Men in Black held on with a strong defensive display.
Suva coach Singh said it was unfortunate that they could not score.
He said a silly mistake in defence cost them.
"It is unfortunate that we could not make it back to back titles," Singh said.
"But the boys performed well. One silly mistake and Ba scored. They were a strong side. They were better than us on the day. We will now prepare for the National League."
Ba manager Arvind Singh said they kept their composure.
He said the boys did the district proud after losing to Suva in the IDC last year.
"It is sweet revenge," Singh said.
