AUSTRALIAN Peter Huchings won the BOC Tour of Fiji competition that ended in Suva yesterday.
Huchings managed to hang on to his lead to claim the title in a time of six hours 48.42 minutes.
Mapa Bolea, who won the final stage of competition yesterday, finished second overall on 6 hrs 51:54 min.
During the prize presentation Huchings generously contributed his prize of an Xtasy Road bike, worth about $2500, to Bolea.
Bolea gave his prize of the Xtasy MTB to third place getter Caleb Koroi.
The final stage started at the RoC Coffee Shop, which supplied cyclists with coffee and refreshments before the race.
It was a fast 35 kilometre course with four circuits around Nasese and Muanikau with the finish line at the Alliance FranÃ§aise.
The director of the Alliance FranÃ§aise, Eric Davias, hosted a reception and presentation of prizes.
Cycling Fiji president Dom Sansom was happy with the event and praised the sponsors.
"This was our most successful Tour of Fiji," he said.
"Jason Turner from BOC (Fiji) Limited and Vodafone ensured we had enough funds to stage the four-day event. Marco Polo supplied a Racing Bike and a Mountain Bike as prizes, Westpac provided all the cyclists and officials apparel, Fiji Water gave us nearly a tonne of Fiji Water and JR White supplied medals and trophies.
"We are also grateful to Uprising who provided accommodation to cyclists and support crew at the end of stage two."
