BRISBANE was crowned the new champions at the Vodafone Kshatriya Soccer World Cup at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.
A first half goal from Satish Lal sealed the 1-0 win for the visitors over hosts Suva.
Brisbane defeated Auckland 3-0 while Suva overcame Ba 3-1 in the semi-finals.
Host committee chairman Kamlesh Kumar was impressed with the level of competition and hailed the four-day tournament a success.
He was particularly pleased with the turnout adding it was "beyond our expectation".
"We also saw a wonderful display of soccer and the competition level was obviously high," Kumar said.
"The purpose of hosting this tournament was to bring the whole community together and we achieved that.
"We have people from New Zealand, Australia, US, London, Canada and Fiji coming together. I think we had about 300 people from overseas who were part of this tournament."
The Kshatriya Soccer World Cup ended with the awards night at the Vodafone Arena.
Melbourne will host the next world cup in 2015.
