A much improved performance from the national sevens team when it thrashed Pacific neighbour Samoa 31-26 in the plate semi-final.
The team worked well on attack and the communication during defence worked well to their advantage.
Coach Ben Ryan had earlier stated that he wanted to see an improved performance from the players after the dismal outing in the loss to England in the Cup quarter-final.
Ryan also rested Manueli Laqai and skipper Osea Kolinisau from the starting seven against Samoa and new inclusions in the run-on side Donasio Ratu Ratubuli and Benito Masilevu proved their worth.
While they may have let their guard down in the second half, it was enough to hand them victory in the end.
Fiji started with a bang and ran away to a commanding 24-0 from four tries to lead at the break.
