VEGETABLE farmers in the country's Salad Bowl have breathed a sigh of relief after experiencing some rain in the past few days.
Although the rainfall was not sufficient for farming, some farmers said it was enough for some relief from the dry weather they have been experiencing.
Joji Oneone of Nadrala in Sigatoka said the dry weather experienced for the past few months was not helpful for farming.
"We had some rain on Wednesday night and on Thursday morning but it wasn't enough to get things back to normal," he said.
"It just brought farmers some relief."
However, Ritesh Lal of Loma along Valley Rd in Sigatoka, said he was happy with the rainfall.
"Since I've planted only cabbage on my farm now, I think the rainfall was good for the crop to grow," he said.
"It was quite dry for the past months and even though there wasn't continuous heavy rain, whatever rainfall experienced on Wednesday night was just good."
Mr Lal said he was praying for more rain so he could plant other vegetables.
Shiu Raj, 63, of Raunitogo on Valley Rd, also said the little rain experienced brought him some relief.
"It wasn't heavy but just enough to give some relief to the farmers from the dry weather being experienced for some time," he said.
