AUSTRALIAN Peter Huchings continued to dominate the BOC Tour of Fiji, winning stage three of the race from Pacific Harbour to Lami yesterday.
During the individual time trial in which competitors start at one minute intervals, Huchings clocked one hour and 10 minutes.
Mapa Bolea crossed the finish line three minutes later and Caleb Koroi again finished third for the second time, stopping the clock at 1:15:58.
Cycling Fiji president Dom Sansom said this stage was good for making up time or increasing the lead.
"If you are a good time triallist you can make big gains in this stage and with the final stage after this it can determine the winner," he said.
Sansom said Huchings showed his speed but needed to maintain his performance during the final stage today.
"Peter has a three minute lead but it's not that much with the final stage which is a race around Nasese and Muanikau."
The fourth stage of the race starts at the RoC Coffee Shop in Loftus St and is four laps around Queen Elizabeth Drive, Laucala Bay Rd and Ratu Sukuna Rd.
