FORMER students of the Yasana-i-Ra District School on Moala, Lau, got together yesterday to hold a fundraising drive in Nasinu.
The Suva branch of the former students hosted their Western counterparts, hopeful that they could raise $15,000 for a new computer lab at the school.
"There is a need for a computer lab," Jitoko Bokotini of the Suva branch said.
"We don't want the students to miss out on anything that will help them develop.
"Our goal is for the development of education.
"We have had previous projects for the school already; we helped build quarters and two new classrooms so this is the next project on our list."
He said their future projects included the building of a dining hall and a multipurpose court.
The multipurpose court can be used for training and also as an evacuation centre for the villages of Moala.
"This fundraising drive is also an excuse for us to get together and catch up."
Yasana-i-Ra District School caters for children from five to 14 years old. It has a roll of more than 70 students.
