MORE than 200 people gathered at Subrail Park's ground two for the annual Labasa Yellow Ribbon fun run yesterday.
Children, youths and elders supported the event with their presence.
Winding through the Naodamu Housing area then through Labasa main street before ending at the starting point, the run/walk spanned six kilometres.
Yellow Ribbon fun run project co-ordinator Isireli Dausiga said the program was into its fifth year.
"We would like to thank supporters who turned up in large numbers in Labasa to partake in the event," Mr Dausiga said.
"Within its five years of operation, the Yellow Ribbon Project has always been for the rehabilitation of inmates so that they are ready to be accepted back into their communities.
"Therefore the fun run is also a way of supporting the project and telling inmates that we care for them."
Mr Dausiga said they decided to celebrate the fifth anniversary with a fun run to also stress on the importance of healthy living.
"This year we had 290 runners from Labasa, 395 runners in Lautoka and 695 runners in Suva which is a good turnout.
"We thank the people of Fiji including business houses and all stakeholders for supporting the Yellow Ribbon Project."
