TANIELA Waqa scored for Labasa but did not celebrate against his home team Lautoka.
The man from Topline was left unmarked at the far post and he nodded home but showed due respect to his former team.
His family, including his former Fiji rep brothers Bakalevu Moceimereke and Maika Waqa, reside in Natokowaqa, Lautoka.
Lautoka for the second game running created several chances but could only score once as they went down 1-2 to Labasa last night at the Courts Inter-District Championship.
The Design Engineering-sponsored home side now needs to win by at least two clear goals against Ba today to qualify for the semi-final.
It's a tough ask, the same as Rewa. They also need to beat Labasa by two clear goals to progress.
So it's pointing towards Ba and Labasa as qualifiers from Group A.
Labasa scored through Pita Bolaitoga and Waqa while the Blues replied through Jean Kaltak.
For Rewa and Lautoka anything less than a two clear goal victory will see them eliminated.
Group B is wide open. Navua needs a win to qualify. They could still sneak in with a draw if Suva beats Nadi.
They will play Nadroga and the men from the Coral Coast need a win as well and will then hope that Suva beats or draws with Nadi.
If Nadroga wins well then they will not have to worry too much about the Suva-Nadi game.
Former Nadi rep Maika Kasami says the two Group B game will be interesting.
"Navua is playing well with a constructive approach while Nadroga remains the unpredictable package," said Kasami.
"It's do-or-die for Nadi against Suva and I am sure they will come out with ball guns blazing and will be hoping the western heat gives them the edge.
"In the other group, it looks like too much of an ask for Rewa and Lautoka to turn things around."
Nadi scored a last-gasp goal against Nadroga to draw 1-1. Rusiate Matarerega nodded home 30 seconds from the end after Ronald Lawrence had given Nadroga the lead.
Suva's Jonas Nacewa scored with a stunning strike against the run of play as Suva led 1-0. But Navua, like they did against Nadi on Thursday, hit back with a goal of equal quality from Monit Chand. Navua's Rajnil Chand and Jesoni Takala were in complete command in midfield in the 1-all draw. If it wasn't for Rajnesh Raju's blunder the Red Devils could have easily won that game.
Today's games start with the two super premier semi-finals. The first super premier game is at 3pm between Rewa-Labasa.
