BERLIN - The management of world heavyweight champions Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko on Thursday dismissed reports of a possible future bout against Britain's 48-year-old ex-champion Lennox Lewis. "That's absurd, it's garbage. We don't give something like that any thought," Klitschko's manager Bernd Boente told SID, an AFP subsidiary.
COLOMBO - Sri Lanka's former football chief Manilal Fernando will challenge an "unfair and harsh" life ban imposed on him by FIFA for corruption, lawyers said. Fernando, a former member of the FIFA executive board, will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after seeing an earlier ban for eight years increased by the sport's world governing body on Wednesday after a failed appeal.
NEWCASTLE - Newcastle fullback Darius Boyd is the Knights Player of the Year. Boyd, who played in all three Origin games for Queensland this year and will represent Australia in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, featured in 26 NRL games, missing just one due to Origin duties.

LAUSANNE - Morocco international striker Hamza Abourazzouk has been suspended for six months by world football governing body FIFA after testing positive for cannabis at a World Cup qualifying match. The 27-year-old Abourazzouk had been provisionally suspended from August 28.
WELLINGTON - The two-time defending champion Chiefs have signed well-travelled forwards Kane Thompson and Ross Filipo for next year's Super Rugby campaign. Samoan international Thompson, 31, and four-Test former All Black Filipo, 34, can both play at lock and in the loose forwards, providing experience and versatility for coach Dave Rennie.

WELLINGTON - Ben Smith will start at centre for the All Blacks against the Wallabies in Dunedin next week while Cory Jane is set to return to the Test scene. New Zealand coach Steve Hansen said Smith will move in one position to replace veteran centre Conrad Smith, who has begun a four-month New Zealand Rugby Union-approved break from the sport.
SYDNEY - Rising cricket star Jake Doran is set to become the youngest player in 50 years to make his debut for the NSW second XI on Monday. The left-hander will be 16 years and 316 days old when his NSW futures league side take on Western Australia.
