POLICE are calling for public assistance in their search for a hit-and-run driver.
Police said it was a dark blue sedan which ran down father-of-three Timoci Laukata, 29, in Rakiraki last weekend.
And they're urging members of the public to contact the nearest police station or post should they have any information about the incident or any clue as to the whereabouts of the driver.
West police spokeswoman Naina Ragigia said the driver remained on the run despite an extensive search by police.
"We are appealing to members of the public to assist the police in our attempt to locate the driver," she said.
"We don't have the registration number of the car involved. All we know is that the car involved is a dark blue sedan.
"We have been gathering some information and at the same time working hard round-the-clock to locate the driver."
Mr Laukata's brother, Penioni Ciwa, is appealing to the public to assist police with information. He said his brother had left behind a young family and he wanted the police to arrest the driver responsible.
