ACTING CEO for Biosecurity Authority of Fiji Matai Matakitoga yesterday appeared in the Suva Magistrate's Court charged with three counts of theft.
It is alleged that Mr Matakitoga took properties belonging to the BAF between March 19 and 27 of this year.
On the first count of theft, Mr Matakitoga is alleged to have dishonestly taken a table from BAF office between March 19 and 20, this year.
On the second count of theft he is alleged to have stolen five tyres belonging to BAF on March 23, also this year.
On the third count of theft, Mr Matakitoga allegedly stole three cabinets, the property of BAF on March 27, this year.
Mr Matakitoga appeared before magistrate Margaret Mua and is represented by lawyer Taina Leweni.
FICAC lawyer Rashmi Aslam did not object to bail but asked that strict bail conditions be given to the accused.
Mr Matakitoga has been released on $500 bail bond. He provided two sureties and is to report to the Lami Police Station every Friday between 6am and 6pm.
He was reminded not to interfere with state witnesses.
The matter has been adjourned to November 14.
