PROVIDING the best education for their little ones, villagers of Korovuli and nearby settlements in Macuata came together yesterday for a fundraising drive to finance the upgrading of their kindergarten.
Seven beautiful and petite preschoolers were treated as princesses to compete for the charity title.
Organising committee member Apolosi Rogowale said the event was held to raise funds for the construction of the facility's convenience and washrooms.
"Kindergarten classes here in Korovuli started in 1993 in a veranda and as years passed by, we managed to build a well-structured facility for our children," he said.
"This is the first time ever we are organising something for our children and we're happy to be doing it because we want to house them in a well-built place.
"Our target is $300 but today, we surpassed this figure. We managed to raise more than $1000."
Mr Rogowale said they would have similar fundraising drives for their children.
"This is the start and given the positive and tremendous response from the villagers and nearby settlers, we look forward to having more of this event in future."
