EDUCATION for every child in primary and secondary schools can become free next year.
Minister Filipe Bole confirmed his ministry has designed a program and submitted it to the Finance Ministry to get its budget approved.
In an interview yesterday, Mr Bole said the new changes were part of the provisions in the new Constitution.
"We have a program but we still have to get the budget approved for it and that won't be announced until the budget is announced," Mr Bole said.
"It brings about the implementation of the provision in the new Constitution, basically the three things the Constitution wants in respect to education," he said.
Mr Bole said the three provisions included everyone's right to early childhood, primary, secondary and further education, the state must take reasonable methods to provide funds for that and make the right to any education institution to teach any subject to further them to national interest in Fiji.
"Those are the things that we have to seek funds for to implement next year. We have already made submissions to the Ministry of Finance."
