VODAFONE Fiji FACT champions Nadi failed to spark in the heavy underfoot conditions, drawing with Navua 1-all at Churchill Park yesterday.
Nadi went into the match as the favourites and scored through Napolioni Qasevakatini in the first spell.
However, an unnecessary hand ball in the second half gifted Navua a penalty.
Simione Makali powered from the spot kick through the gloves of goalkeeper Benaminio Mateinaqara to level the scores.
Nadi coach Kamal Swamy said they needed to polish their attack.
"Not disappointed as both teams played well," Swamy said.
"All the teams come prepared for the IDC. We had a chance and we scored. It was also the same for them. But we lacked in our finishing department."
New Navua coach Mohammed Shafil said he had taken up the role as a challenge after unfavourable results in previous tournaments.
He said the focus would now shift to their next game against Suva.
"The result is there and I'm happy about it," Shafil said.
"The focus is on Suva now and they are a hard team to play against," he said.
