THE Digicel Fiji 7s team is trying hard to adapt to the style of play new coach Ben Ryan wants the team to follow.
The former England coach has had three days to work with the players after taking over from former coach Alivereti Dere.
Team manager Ratu Isei Rayawa said the players had been working very hard trying to play to the style the new coach wants.
Ratu Isei said while Ryan's coaching style maybe new to the players, they were enjoying the moment.
"They are enjoying every moment of working with Ben, especially as he (Ryan) can communicate freely with them and they can understand what he is trying to tell them," Ratu Isei said.
"While the communication is good, it's the Fijian style of being shy and wanting to be in the background which we want to improve on.
"What we're also trying to do is get the players to be in contact with Ben as much as possible so we are getting him to be with the team during our meals as well.
"The players are slowly beginning to enjoy the company of Ben and are starting to share jokes with him."
New skipper Osea Kolinisau said Ryan was not bringing anything new to the team, only trying to perfect the Fijian style of running rugby.
"Ben is not different from the other coaches as he just wants us to keep using the ball and freeing it around and making use of the width of the field," Kolinisau said
The team was at the famous Surfers Paradise yesterday morning for a swim.
