MAPA Bolea will be wearing red leader's jersey today as the BOC Tour of Fiji continues from Korotogo to the Uprising Beach Resort in Pacific Harbour.
This is after Bolea won the first stage of the race from Nadi to Korotogo yesterday. He beat Australian Peter Huchings and favourite Caleb Koroi, clocking two hours, six minutes and 23 seconds, an average speed of 30.83kilometres per hour.
Huchings who pulled out early in the race with a broken stem was second, stopping the clock at 2:06:25 while Lal who changed his rear wheel during the race cost him nearly 10minutes.
Christian Carling was third, Koroi finished fourth and Carl Ngamoki-Cameron completed to top five.
Fiji Cycling president Dom Samson said the cool overcast condition was a blessing for the cyclers.
"It was a great finish," said Sansom.
"Mapa just had the edge as he knew exactly where the finish line was and this gave him a slight advantage.
"Stage two will see Bolea wearing the BOC Tour of Fiji red leaders' jersey."
He said the longest stage from Korotogo to Uprising Beach Resort would be tough as cyclists will have to battle through the Serua hills.
