A 24-YEAR-OLD man who is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl told the court on Wednesday that she had consented to having sex with him.
In his examination in chief, the man told his lawyer, Seremaia Waqainabete, that he met the girl through her male cousin, who is a friend and co-worker at a tourist attraction site.
The man said about midday on May 5, 2011, his friend allegedly told him that his cousin-sister liked him and wanted to talk to him.
The man agreed and told the girl they could talk more inside a cave.
The court heard that after they entered the cave, they began talking and allegedly had sex afterwards.
The trial continues today.
