FORMER students of Lelean Memorial School's Bure Varani spent their Fiji Day holiday yesterday getting to know one another during their fun day.
Joined by their spouses and children, they came together for the relaxed meet-and-greet affair at Furnival Park in Suva.
The fun day is one of the initiatives of those who were part of Bure Varani during their years in Lelean, said Setoki Silivale, the assistant president of the Bure Varani .
"We wanted to get together and get to know one another better from different years and meet the families of our old scholars," Mr Silivale said.
"We wanted to do this before the Lelean Old Scholars saqamoli day.
"And this is just one way that we thought we could get together and discuss a few things before meeting the rest of the old scholars on saqamoli day on December 7."
Mr Silivale said while some were unable to attend because of prior commitments he was happy that many young children attended the fun day.
"There were those who called here today and said they were busy but would try to make it and we thought that we would only be few in number but many younger people and children have shown up today and so we are very happy."
The former students were also entertained by the officers from the National Fire Authority who held a fire safety display for the students.
"We hope the rest of the Bure Varani old scholars will come forward and show their support just so we can meet and talk about our plans for the rest of the year and going forward after that."
