CYCLING Fiji is breaking with tradition by painting the winner's jersey red in the Tour of Fiji race which starts today in Nadi.
Yellow is usually the colour of the winner's jersey in a cycle race but this year the winner's jersey will be red.
"We changed the colour of the winner's jersey from yellow to red as BOC (Fiji) Limited are our title sponsor and it would be a great way to give extra recognition of our main sponsor as their corporate colour is red," Cycling Fiji president Dom Sansom said in a statement.
"By coincidence some of our other sponsors Vodafone, Westpac, Marco Polo, Xtasy Bikes and JR White also have the same red in their logos so this is a winning situation all-round."
The BOC Tour of Fiji is a four-day stage race that starts in Nadi and finishes in Suva with an awards ceremony at the Alliance Française.
The Fiji Times and Fiji Water are the other sponsors.
