THE Social Democratic Liberal Party is expected to name its new leader next month.
SODELPA general secretary Pio Tabaiwalu said the setting up of branches and appointment of the new party leader were the main items on the agenda now.
Mr Tabaiwalu said the party's western and eastern constituencies had finished their meetings.
"They have got the shortlist of names for the party leader but it's confidential right now and we can't reveal anything on the likely candidates," he said, adding the nominations will be presented at the party's board meeting on October 31 and the names will then be put to the selection committee.
"The central constituency meeting will be held on October 18 followed by the northern constituency meeting a week later."
Mr Tabaiwalu said the central and northern constituencies would also nominate names for the party leader's post and present them at the board meeting.
"We want to go through the democratic process in electing the party's new leader. We have to practise the democratic process in-house too.
"We are moving quite fast now as far as the setting up of our branches in the country is concerned. The pace is picking up."
Mr Tabaiwalu earlier said the party would target youths in its preparation for the 2014 election because youths made up a considerable number of the voting population.
SODELPA has not ruled out the possibility of forming a coalition with another political party to contest the election.
