A CHINESE national caught with almost $141,000 of undeclared money at the Nadi International Airport has been ordered to pay a fine of $5000 to the Nadi Magistrates Court.
Fang Wang of Lang Fang Hebei in China was sentenced by Magistrate Peni Dalituicama who gave her one month to pay the fine.
Mr Dalituicama said the court would lift the stop departure order on Fang upon payment of the fine.
He also ordered that the $US80,000 cash she was caught with be returned to the 24-year-old accused after she settled her payment to the court.
Fang was stopped at the arrivals desk on September 27 by a Customs agent who noticed the Chinese national behaving suspiciously.
The court then heard that the agent referred Fang to another officer who searched her luggage.
During the search, the officer found four bundles of one hundred $US100 notes hidden under her clothes.
The officer also discovered a similar amount of cash hidden in the second suitcase carried by the accused.
Together, eight bundles of $US100 notes were found on the accused.
