EIGHTEEN students from Matuku High School in Wallis and Futuna are in the country on a three-week business internship program organised by a hardware giant.
The program, organised by Ba-based Vinod Patel and Company Limited and the French Embassy, will allow students to work on attachments at various departments at Vinod Patel's flagship Centerpoint store in Laucala Beach Estate.
Company export manager Momlesh Chandra said the internship would provide students an excellent opportunity to learn about the Fiji business environment and its diverse culture.
"The students will get on-the-job training and this will be extremely beneficial to them after they finish school," Mr Chandra said.
"The group from Wallis and Futuna will also be joined by a few students from New Caledonia.
"This is a proud moment for both the students and Vinod Patel and Co Ltd, and is an excellent opportunity to promote our country, its people and the business environment to other Pacific Islands."
Accompanying the group is Katherine Hague who said that since the program begun, they had seen an improvement in business knowledge from their students.
