NATIONAL sevens players have been told to cut down on the use of Facebook by team management as they focus on this weekend's Gold Coast 7s in Australia.
Digicel Fiji sevens manager Isei Rayawa said he had informed the players that there would be restrictions on the use of Facebook during camp.
Rayawa said the reason they were doing this was to get the players focused on the task at hand.
Rayawa said it was evident in the past that when players were given the opportunity to use Facebook they overdid it thus making them lose focus.
"I have spoken to the players regarding the use of Facebook and it will be monitored during our stay in camp," Rayawa said at the team hotel on the Gold Coast.
"I also call on fans and even family members to help us with this.
"We need the players to focus on the job that they're here to do and we need to help them achieve their goal which is to do well in this opening tournament of the new IRB Sevens Series."
The team had a light pool session yesterday morning after they arrived at the team hotel at 1am.
Rayawa said while they were disappointed with the late arrival it would not deter them from giving their best in this two-day tournament.
Fiji faces Wales, Canada and Portugal in pool play.
