LAUTOKA football is taking a positive and cautious approach at this year's Courts Inter-District Championship.
"We missed out on the top four at the Vodafone Fiji FACT," Blues president Shalendra Prasad said yesterday.
"At the BOG we made the final and as much as we'd like to go one better this time, we are wary of the other seven teams."
Prasad said the IDC was the most competitive tournament and 60-minute football was tricky.
"Even the weakest of teams can come out big. A good example was Navua at last year's IDC," Prasad said.
"Who would have thought they'd beat teams like Labasa and us and top the pool before taking Ba into extra-time in the semi-final considering the poor season they had in the league? That's the beauty about the beautiful game. Anything can happen."
The Design Engineering-sponsored side is in Group A with Ba, Rewa and Labasa while Navua, Nadroga, Finance Pacific Suva and Jack's Nadi make up the other group.
The Blues will be missing three suspended players Alvin Avinesh, Krishneel Dutt and Arvindra Naidu.
However, they have brought in a couple of new faces and back to strengthen their defence is right-back Jone Nailogi.
The Ravinesh-Kumar coached side takes on Rewa in their first game on Thursday.
They lost to Rewa 0-1 in the opening pool game at the BOG and will be out to make amends.
"The last time we created more opportunities but failed to find the net while Rewa netted against the run of play. We will need to do better," Prasad said.
The IDC starts tomorrow at Churchill Park with premier and school games.
