A 16-YEAR-old victim of an alleged rape incident yesterday took the stand before High Court judge Justice Salesi Temo.
The girl shared her experience of how the man, now 23 years old, allegedly raped her.
The victim said she was visiting her aunt's place at a settlement near Navua where the offence was alleged to have happened on May 5, 2011.
In her examination in chief, she said she was told by her aunt to go and wash their clothes in a nearby house where the accused was staying.
It was when she was returning the house keys to the accused that she was told by her cousin to accompany the accused for a tour of the nearby area.
She said she then went ahead with the accused.
The court heard that when they were inside a cave at the area they toured, the man raped her.
She said when she walked out of the cave, she was met by her aunty who then hit her with a stick after finding out about the rape.
DPP lawyer Suprina Naidu asked the complainant to tell the court why her aunty had "wacked" her with a stick. She replied: "Because she was angry after she found out what happened."
The complainant said she only reported the matter to police on May 17 that year after telling her parents. The trial continues today.
