THREE local match officials have been appointed on the panel to officiate in the Oceania Football Confederation Champions League preliminary tournament in Pago Pago, American Samoa next week.
They are Salesh Chand, Avinesh Narayan and Phul Singh.
Chand will be part of the referees panel while Narayan and Singh will be part of the assistant referees panel.
Fiji Football Referees Association president Mahen Singh said it was good to see their members being appointed for international matches.
He said the local match officials should recognise that a pathway is there for them to officiate at the higher level.
"Recently we held an examination for our members," the DHL country manager said.
"We will make the examinations compulsory.
"The match officials have to be well briefed with the law changes.
"Hopefully the appointments will encourage more people to take up refereeing."
The OFC Champions League preliminary tournament will be held from October 15 to October 19.
