THE Fiji Football Association has urged the fans to get behind the district team contestants in a bid to raise funds for the development of the sport.
A total of seven contestants are vying for the charity title during the 75th anniversary celebrations which started at the Carnival Park in Lautoka on Saturday.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said the texting competition had started on the 828 Vodafone and Inkk Mobile platforms.
He said this was the time for the fans to help out the district to generate funds.
"75 per cent of the income raised by the contestants will go back to their respective districts," Patel said.
"With this concept the districts will be able to judge what their support base is like.
"The fans can text the initials of their district contestants to the number 828. The charity queen will be crowned on Saturday."
The district contestants are Ajneeta Lal (Nadi), (Text-AL to 828), Savaira Tikomaivavalagi (Rewa) (Text-ST to 828), Bela Ratubalavu (Navua) (Text BR to 828), Kylie Wise (Lautoka) (Text-KW to 828), Annette Nainima (Ba) (Text-AN to 828), Koini Nareka (Nadroga) (Text-KN to 828), Sufima Eme Aisea (Suva) (Text-SA to 828).
The fun filled activities part of the 75th anniversary celebrations will resume at the Carnival Park this evening.
