A FOOD and craft fair designed to assist rural women promote their creations will be staged in Nadi on October 17 and 18.
This was revealed by Women, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation Minister Dr Jiko Luveni when she launched the inaugural Rural Women's Day celebrations last week.
"This will be a socio-economic environment for rural women to establish a market for themselves and promote their products," she said.
"Rich information will be shared with the rural women to equip them with knowledge and skills on important social issues they are faced with in their daily lives. I encourage our people to support rural women, empower them and appreciate their contributions towards families, communities and national development.
"In fact, we have now come to an era where rural women no longer depend on traditional methods of supporting their families.
"They are now as enterprising as any other woman in more developed parts of the country."
