BEN Ryan is keen to work with the former Digicel Fiji 7s coach Alivereti Dere in improving the performance of the national side in the HSBC Sevens World Series.
Ryan allowed Dere to guide the team in the Oceania 7s before taking over this coming week for the Gold Coast 7s tournament in Australia.
The former England mentor was humbled with Dere's commitment and has indicated his interest to include the former Fiji 7s skipper in his 7s program.
"Handing over a team, many coaches wouldn't do that, it shows what a great man Alivereti is and I'm very keen to keep him with me if he would like to be involved in a program in the capacity going forward," Ryan said.
"What I have seen immediately is how much the team are behind him and very loyal to him. So I'm very grateful for all support and hope it's not the last you see of Alivereti Dere."
Dere said the last two year's with the Fiji 7s team was a good learning experience for him.
He rated Ryan highly and had rendered his support to assist him with achieving the best for the national side.
"Ben is keen listener and today (yesterday) before I told him my starting team, he mentioned those names to me, that's Ben. He has been reading (the game) well in the last two days."
