THE Courts Inter-District Championship torch relay final leg was held in Lautoka yesterday.
The relay was hastily organised with the torch arriving half an hour late at the Courts Lautoka branch.
Unaware of the relay route, police officers guided the Drasa Secondary School players, Lautoka under-14 players, Lautoka senior team players and other officials on a round trip of Naviti St, Vakabale Stand, Bila St back to Courts branch with the torch.
Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Bob Kumar said the torch should have been taken to the Carnival Park where the festive activities started last night together with the 75th anniversary book launch by former Fiji rep Vimlesh Singh.
A total of seven contestants are part of the carnival to help raise funds for their respective districts.
The district contestants are Ajneeta Lal (Nadi), Savaira Tikomaivavalagi (Rewa), Bela Ratubalavu (Navua), Kylie Wise (Lautoka), Annette Nainima (Ba), Koini Nareka (Nadroga), Sufima Eme Aisea (Suva).
The fun-filled activities which are part of the 75th anniversary celebrations will resume at the Carnival Park tomorrow.
The IDC will start at Churchill Park next Wednesday. Suva is the defending champion.
