TWELVE athletes from Samoa will compete in the National Fiji Disability Games that will be held in Suva next week.
A statement from the Fiji Paralympic Committee said four officials would accompany the Samoan athletes who arrive into the country on Saturday for the competition that would be held on October 8 and 9 at the ANZ Stadium.
The statement also revealed the United States Embassy in Fiji had given F$24,109 to the FPC to support the Samoan contingents stay in Fiji.
"The Fiji Paralympic Committee has been very fortunate to receive financial assistance of over US$13,000 from the US Embassy as part of a Sports Exchange program," said the statement.
"The program is supporting a team of athletes with disabilities from Samoa to participate in the National Fiji Disability Games.
"This is part of Fiji's commitment to the action plan that was put together as a result of Fiji and Samoa's participation in the Sports Outreach Program in the United States earlier this year.
The funding will assist the visiting team with their airfares, accommodation, meals and transportation during their stay for a week.
