SHORTLAND Street star Teuila Blakely, who plays Vasa on the series, is looking forward to strutting the runway in the final show of the MHCC Fiji Fashion Week tonight.
Ms Blakely was flown in especially by Samoan design group MENA to model their spring summer 2014 collection 'Return to Paradise'.
"I am very honoured and excited. This is my first time in Fiji and I am blown away by the work Fiji Fashion is doing in raising the profile of Pacific designers," she said.
She said she was proud to continue the contribution of Pacific and its talent to the world.
"I love fashion and I love being a Pacific woman. I take my position as an actor very seriously and whenever I do any media, I always wear something that will reflect that I am a woman of the Pacific."
Ms Blakely first met the sisters behind MENA — Agnes, Jackie, Gina and Charlene Loheni — six years ago when she starred in Sione's Wedding.
"They are incredible designers. I came across MENA and I said this is exactly what I want to wear, its Pacific, it's beautiful. They are amazing sisters and what they have done is incredible.
"What they do is make clothes that reflect the Pacific beauty but also Pacific women's beautiful bodies. I've never felt like I needed to wear anything else when I wear MENA."
She said Pacific Islanders should stick together as this was how they could strengthen the Pacific's influence in the world.
MENA will be showcasing 20 pieces in tonight's Established Designers show which begins at 7pm.
