AGILITY and speed will be the Solomon Island's strength at the Fiji Water Centennial International 7s tournament.
That's the view of the coach Freddy Kafoa. The Solomon Islands are drawn in the Oceania Pool A with Samoa, Australia and American Samoa.
They play Samoa in their opening pool match at 10.50am.
Kafoa said size would be a disadvantage, however, speed would be their trump card.
"We may not have the size but we will rely on our speed and agility most of the times," he said.
"Most of these players are here in Fiji for the first time, but we will not let that deter us at the tournament."
The side will bank on skipper Stewart Baiabe, Felix Qalo and Leslie Puia to lead the charge. The players were part of the side that played at the Pacific Games at New Caledonia in 2011.
Kafoa said the opening match against Samoa would be an uphill battle for his troops.
"We have played them (Samoa) many times, we scored against them and we're looking forward to another good game. It'll be tough but we are ready for it."
"We have been preparing well, we always want to be the underdogs and we always aim to achieve big."
