THE Indonesian flag could be seen flying at half mast on Monday in commemoration of the resilience of Pancasila.
Indonesian ambassador Chandra Salim said Pancasila was the five ideological principles of Indonesia.
The five principles of Pancasila are — belief in God Almighty; a just and civilised humanity; the unity of Indonesia; democracy led by the wisdom of deliberations among representatives; and social justice — for the whole of the people of Indonesia
Mr Salim said on September 30, 1965, the communist party tried to change the Pancasila ideology in a coup d'état.
While the coup d'état failed, six generals and a first officer were executed at dawn of October 1.
Indonesia annually flies its flag at half mast in remembrance of those executed, and the resilience of Pancasila.
