THE Fiji Rugby Union is optimistic of the International Rugby Union's support in helping pay the newly-appointed Digicel Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan.
The former England 7s coach, who has been appointed to guide the Fiji 7s team for three years, is likely to be paid a substantial amount for his services.
FRU chairman Filimone Waqabaca said consultations between Rugby House and the international body was ongoing.
He said Ryan was roped in to develop sevens rugby in the country which was an initiative the IRB supported.
"We are still talking with IRB especially when we want Ben Ryan to come and not only coach the national team but for development work as well.
"And given that development is an area that the IRB is always interested in, perhaps that we should get assistance from IRB for engaging Ben Ryan."
Ryan arrives into the country this afternoon. Tomorrow, he will name the Fiji team for the FIJI Water Centennial 7s.
