NEWLY-crowned Mr Suva Inoke Ligairi wants to be the best bodybuilder in Fiji before taking part in international competitions.
Competing after a lapse of eight months, the 34-year-old beat 16 other competitors to win the vacant title after defending champion Onisivoro Koroi was not allowed to compete.
Ligairi, from Raviravi Village in Macuata, Vanua Levu, said he believed he was not ready to compete at an international competition.
"My focus right now is to dominate the local competition," the father of three said. "I don't think I am ready for an international competition."
Ligairi began competing in bodybuilding seven years ago but he was not consistent.
"In 2007, I won the Mr Buksh title and then I was inconsistent again. But these past eight months, I have really dedicated more time to training and making a comeback."
He said his next target was winning the Mr Fiji title which would be held on November 9.
"I know this tournament is being used to select a team for the Oceania Championships in Tonga next month.
"So I will try and win the Mr Fiji title first before competing overseas.
"Personally, beating Vonitiri Radua in this competition is a big achievement. He sets the standard for the other bodybuilders in the country but beating him does not make me good enough to represent the country yet."
