CONSTRUCTION of the Public Rental Board (PRB) Raiwai flats will resume next week after the Chinese Government resolved the dispute between the PRB and Chinese Railway First Group.
Work on the project came to a halt earlier this year after the budget for the project, which is about $9million, turned out to be about $18million.
"Because there was a contract agreed upon, it was not our responsibility to complete it beyond the amount that they had given," Housing Authority chairman Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga said.
"So the government of China has come in and given the funding so we can see the completion of the project," Col. Tikoitoga said.
He expressed his appreciation to the Chinese Government for the grant.
According to a Ministry of Information statement, China Railway First Group project manager Yang Zhiming said the group was happy with the solution and would recommence work as soon as possible.
