THE FSC has begun discussions with the FEA on the sale of electricity from the Rarawai mill in Ba as plans to establish a cogeneration plant draw closer to being finalised.
FSC executive chairman Abdul Khan said the paperwork and purchase of equipment was in its final stage.
"We have started the detail tender documentation which will be issued to the potential contractors once we reach financial close," Mr Khan said.
"We have also started site works in terms of geo-technical study, establishing the footprint and liaising with FEA in terms of the power purchase agreement and the injection of electricity into the power grid."
Mr Khan said funding for the $200million project was close to being sealed.
"Although we have received in principle that all the required funds will be available, we need to have all the funding agreements completed before tenders can be agreed and contractors chosen."
