PARENTS and officials of the Macuata Kaji rugby under-12 side organised an awards night on Friday to thank young ruggers for the tireless efforts during the Milo Kaji Rugby tournament in Suva last month.
The ceremony was held at Saint Mary's Primary School in Labasa.
Players were given certificates and trophies.
Even though the side lost to Nadi 14-0 in the semi-finals, parents and officials thought it was only proper to host an event to reward the players.
Coach Apenisa Matia said the boys played their best at the tournament, unfortunately luck was not on their side.
"They gave their best shot and we are really proud of their performances.
"This is just a way of showing how we feel about them," he said.
"Most of these players are future stars and we look forward to seeing more of them.
"I must thank the parents for their undying support and for assisting us in putting up this awards night.
"This is the first time ever such an event is organised for the under-12 players."
