A RETIRED PWD worker broke down when he was informed he had won Vodafone's Bati text and win competition last week.
Hemant Kumar, accompanied by his wife Prem Lata Kumar, wept as Vodafone West manager Antonio Kitione presented the duo with a cheque for $5000 and two return tickets to Sydney courtesy of Fiji Airways.
"I received a call on Wednesday from Liga from Vodafone who said I had won a competition but he refused to tell me what the prize was," the 63-year-old Saweni man said.
"When I found out what it was I couldn't believe it because I have never won anything this big in my life."
Mr Kumar said he and his wife would use the tickets to visit family members in Sydney. Mr Kitione said Vodafone was proud to have not only brought happiness to the lives of Mr and Mrs Kumar but to have also contributed to the Fiji Bati team's coffers.
"This text and win competition was designed to raise money for our Bati and so far it has been running very successfully but we urge all Fijians to get behind this cause," Mr Kitione said.
"Not only are you supporting our team, you could also win major prizes like the Kumar family."
