THE Fiji Police Force band and the St Thomas High School marching band livened up the crowd's mood on the streets of Lautoka at the float procession yesterday, the last day of the 2013 University of Fiji Sugar Festival.
People lined the sidewalks to see the nine contestants in their colourful floats alongside various business houses who also participated.
Sugar Festival Association spokesman Pusp Raj said the turnout was good.
"There were also 20 floats that were featured today (yesterday)," he said.
"The bands were a major success as many in the crowd came to witness their lively performance.
"The streets were filled from one end to the other which was very welcoming.
"Businesses like micro finance were also a part of the festivities.
"The program will continue tonight (last night) as we wait to see who is crowned Miss Sugar 2013."
Mr Raj said the hosting of the festival had been very successful.
Apart from the crowning of Miss Sugar and Miss Charity, he said some lottery prize winners would also be awarded.
