THE organisers of the 2013 Sukuna Bowl Championship have received a shot in their arm by telecommunication giants, Vodafone Fiji.
The company managing director Aslam Khan yesterday presented $25,000 to the acting Commissioner of Police Ravi Narayan to help in the organisation of the annual event.
Khan said this was the third year of their partnership with the event organising committee.
"The sponsoring of this tournament is part of our continued effort to raise the profile of sports in our country," he said in a statement.
"The match pits the disciplined forces in what has become a much looked forward to tournament.
The Sukuna Bowl competition is the brainchild of Fiji's foremost indigenous statesman Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna in 1951.
The contest between the military and police is a bid to build a cordial working relationship between the two forces.
Acting commissioner Narayan thanked Vodafone's contribution to an event that was "no longer just confined to the two disciplined forces but had brought everyone together."
"We are all eagerly looking forward to the event and teams have been preparing in their own individual ways however the Fiji Police is doing all it can to ensure the Sukuna Bowl stays with us for another year."
