Faithful travel for Hajj

Felix Chaudhary
Saturday, September 28, 2013

FOR the first time ever, 82 Muslim faithful travelled as a unified group to Saudi Arabia this week to participate in the annual Hajj.

Maulana Khalid Hussein from the Drasa Darul Uloom in Lautoka said the participation of such a huge group from Fiji was a significant event.

"The Hajj is an annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia that every Muslim, who is able to, must do at least once in their lifetime," he said.

Mr Hussein said the historic journey was made possible through the assistance of Mufti Zain Ulabden with the support of the entire Muslim community in Fiji.

The group returns to the country on October 27.
