LETHAL striker Osea Vakatalesau scored a hat-trick but it was not enough as Ba went down 3-4 to Auckland City in New Zealand on Wednesday.
Vakatalesau put on a man-of-the-match performance in the fixture and could have scored another goal but struck the crossbar in the 66th minute.
Ba led 1-0 at the break with Vakatalesau netting in the 36th minute.
Daniel Koprivcic equalised in the 47th minute but the Men in Black went ahead a minute later with Vakatalesau's strike.
James Pritchett drew Auckland City level with a low header in the 59th minute.
The home team stepped up the tempo after that. Their new signing and Labasa lad Roy Krishna scored in the 70th minute.
Pritchett claimed Auckland City's fourth goal in the 78th minute.
Ba was awarded a penalty in the 87th minute after Roneel Kumar was fouled by Adam McGeorge.
Vakatalesau slotted the spot kick past replacement goalkeeper Louie Counter.
Last Sunday Ba drew with Waitakere United 1-all.
Ba will now focus on the Courts Inter-District Championship upon its return.
