DEFENDING champion Tavua is on track in the Fiji Primary Schools Football Association Inter District Competition after winning its under-14 quarter-final at the Lautoka Central Primary School ground yesterday.
Tavua defeated Suva 1-0 in a tight affair.
Toko Sanatan Primary School student Paula Tuinaserau proved to be the star for the Tavua team nailing a late second half penalty.
Tavua Primary Schools Football Association president Saroj Kumar said they were taking one game at a time.
"We have one dream and that is to win the title back-to-back," Kumar said.
"The boys have been playing well and have proved themselves so far in the tournament.
"The morale is high. We have many budding players.
"The senior district team is struggling on the local scene but Tavua is the breeding ground for young talent.
"Year in, year out we produce players in Tavua but then they are poached by other districts."
In another quarter-final fixture, hosts Lautoka defeated Nadi 1-0. Lautoka Central Primary School student Benjamin Charlie Junior scored the winner.
Lautoka last won the U14 title in 2001.
In the U12 semi-final, Nadi defeated Lautoka via a penalty shootout while Navua beat Suva 1-0.
Navua will face Nadi in the U12 final today.
