FORMER Fiji rep Kameli Kilawaca and schoolteacher Mohammed Shafeel will lead Navua at this year's Courts Inter-District Championship at Churchill Park, Lautoka next month.
The duo took over after coach Saiyad Ali resigned following a meeting with the president Faud Ali on Wednesday.
"We had a difference of opinion (on footballing matters) and I decided that in the best interest of Navua football that he stepped down," Faud said.
"We both agreed on that and he resigned."
Kilawaca, a member of the 2003 Fiji FACT winning Navua team, the Red Devils first success in the top flight, and Shafeel were Ali's assistants.
"They have been with the team for sometime and are familiar with the players and their training. The senior players will help out as well."
Times Sport understands that former Fiji FA technical director Ali's terrible record in the last two FFA tournaments played against him.
Navua returned with zero points from the Vodafone Fiji FACT and Inkk Mobile BOG and did not score a goal in the last five games (the last two from the FACT and three from the BOG).
Back doing light training is top goalkeeper Sheik Moshin, who was badly injured at the BOG. Utility player Vineet Chand is picking up well from a groin injury and back in the fold is former Fiji beach football rep Rajnesh Raju, who stood out at the IDC last year.
The Crown Timber-sponsored Navua is pooled with Nadi, Finance Pacific Suva and Nadroga for the IDC to be played over October 9-13.
Navua surprised many at last year's IDC, winning all four pool games including the 3-1 victory over a star-studded Labasa side and then took Ba into extra-time in the semi-final before bowing out 1-2.
The other pool at this year's IDC has Design Engineering Lautoka, Ba, Rewa and Labasa.
