LABOUR issues faced by some cane farmers in Ba should soon be sorted once harvesting crews that have completed their contracts assist neighbouring farms.
Rarawai Penang Cane Producers Association president Gyan Singh said labour issues were common to most farmers in the Western Division at harvest time.
"In some places, canecutters have taken advance money and absconded while in other areas, farmers did not receive labourers at all," Mr Singh said.
He added that once canecutters had completed their contracts, many would opt to assist in neighbouring farms.
"This also goes for farmers as well and the neighbourly spirit that exists between growers is something that the industry is very proud of.
"Most cutters will complete their contracts in the next 10 days or so and once they move into neighbouring farms that have harvesting issues, then the labour problem will be addressed to some extent."
