Update: 2:35PM FIJIS Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama delivered his address at the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly this morning.
In his address, Commodore Bainimarama congratulated the newly elected president of the assembly, John W Ashe of Antigua and Barbuda.
He expressed his confidence that under the able and wise guidance of Mr Ashe, the session will successfully accomplish its many tasks.
"I would also like to pay tribute to the tireless efforts of your predecessor, Vuk Jeremic, and extend my appreciation for the effectiveness with which he directed the work of the last session," Commodore Bainimarama said.
He also updated the session about Fiji's new 2013 Constitution.
"This Constitution introduces the first genuine democracy Fiji will enjoy since we gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1970."
