ASSISTANT Fiji Bati coach Jo Rabele was given a surprise birthday party by members of the Fiji Bati side who are camping at their headquarters in Suva.
The former national rep turned 48 yesterday and was shocked when the players and manager Mesake Navugona walked in with a cake.
"This is the first time I have been given a surprise party like this," he said.
"I really wasn't expecting anything but it is a special occasion and I thank the boys and the team management for their gesture."
Meanwhile, Navugona said their preparations towards the Rugby League World Cup was going as planned.
He added Peni Botiki and Taqele Naiyaravaro had been drafted into the squad as shadow players.
"This is just in case Akuila Uate, Jarred Hayne and John Sutton are not available then these two players are already here," Navugona said.
"Since these two have Fijian passports, we will apply for their visa as back-up in case the three positions are not filled by those three NRL players."
He said their training had been vigorous and intense.
"Right now we are only working with those players who have Fijian passports and the local boys. They are in camp and we are continuing with our training as planned."
